County story

A courthouse on the McLeansboro square since 1821.

Hamilton County was formed from White County in 1821 and named for Alexander Hamilton. Today it serves roughly 8,000 residents across 435 square miles of Southern Illinois farmland, with civic life still organized around the courthouse square.
